Meet Poppy
Poppy is a very inquisitive young adult female kitty that likes to get into everything.
The Situation
Poppy's owner brought her in to Montclair Veterinary Hospital after witnessing the cat "twitching" with middle-back discomfort. Poppy had been playing near a tall bookcase and knocked over a large vase, which may have fallen on top of her. The pain began after that incident.
The Solution
The owner preferred conventional therapy, and Poppy was treated for a back injury and associated muscle spasm, (findings consistent with the physical exam). Poppy also received a cortisone shot, but that didn't provide the desired relief. Dr. Gary Richter and the staff at Holistic Veterinary Care again recommended acupuncture and explained the potential benefits. At this point, Poppy's owner was more open to alternative therapies and agreed. The cat was markedly improved after only one treatment. After three acupuncture sessions, she was almost completely better.
